Meiji Period Katana
94 Pat. Double Hanger Shingunto
NTHK Kanteisho
This is another great sword that I have the pleasure to be able to offer for sale to either nihonto or militaria collector. It was made during the Meiji period and is signed and dated by the maker “Bungo no Kuni Hide Naga”. The blade is slender and graceful and remains in good old polish, and has a nagasa of approx. 26 inches or 66 cm with a suguha hamon.
The blade is mounted in a genuine 94 Pat. Double Hanger Shingunto Koshirae. that remains in excellent original condition. The saya is finished in a tan coloured gloss lacquer and the tsuka still retains its original peg. The tsuba is a pierced type which is typically associated with good quality early 94 Pat. mounts. Attached to the metal sarute is a rare narrow early pattern field officers Red Brown tassel.
Please note: This is a genuine and unplayed with early 94 pat. koshirae , not a sword that has had a re-moveable 2nd ashi added to the saya.
The blade is accompanied by NTHK Kanteisho which attest to the quality of this fine piece.
