Kanemoto Katana
NTHK Kanteisho

O-Suriage katana with NTHK kanteisho attributed to Kanemoto. Typical kanemoto sanbonsugi hamon. 61 cm nagasaa. The shape and general characteristics of this antique katana are Koto however the NTHK has attributed it to later generation  Kanemoto.
The shingunto koshirae is quite interesting. It has a shingunto tsuka  with unusual copper menuki and early pierced tsuba, however the saya is a Chrome Kyugunto that has been refitted with a leather combat cover for WW2.
I purchased this sword over 20 years ago in Brisbane, direct from the Aussie Digger who brought it back from the Pacific war. Keeping his details was not important to me in those days and unfortunately  I can’t  remember his name.
A good sword at a good price.
Price $3000
